About Enforcement

Mission Statement: Our mission is to provide a respectful process by which we present the concerns of the public to New Hampshire’s licensing boards to ensure the highest quality of safety, service and accountability within our licensed professions.

A Letter from the Division Director:

The Enforcement Division of the Office of Professional Licensure and Certification (OPLC) was created in 2021 to address public safety concerns of professional misconduct by the state’s licensed professionals.  The OPLC provides these administrative services for 57 different boards in the State of New Hampshire, representing thousands of licensed professionals working as doctors, nurses, estheticians, electricians, etc.

The Enforcement Division relies upon members of the public to report any instances of professional misconduct by our licensees.  Our division investigates these complaints and, if necessary, presents our findings before the appropriate boards.  (Learn more about how the complaint process works.)  Our mission is to maintain public health, safety, and trust in the credentials of licensed professionals. In this way, we also serve the thousands of hardworking licensed professionals in New Hampshire to maintain the integrity of their professions.

If the board finds that a licensed person committed professional misconduct, they may take disciplinary action against that person’s license. The board does not have the power to impose criminal sanctions or to recover civil penalties on behalf of members of the public.

Our Division is new and still growing, but we have achieved a nationally recognized reputation for our dedicated service. The Enforcement Division has professional relationships with law enforcement, and we are required to report any criminal conduct reported to our office.  We also work with members of agencies from other states to uphold reciprocal discipline when necessary.

To the members of the public who take the time to report professional misconduct, and to all of our valued licensees who engage with this process, we thank you for your assistance in meeting our mission.

Regards,
Sarah E. Rogers
