Inventory Requirements of Controlled Substances

Code of Federal Regulations (CFR 1304.11)

The Board of Pharmacy has issued a reminder that, every two years, all practitioners that have a DEA license and possess controlled substances for dispensing are required by federal law to complete a biennial inventory. State law requires it be done on May 1 in odd years. Expired or missing inventories are a common violation found by Board of Pharmacy investigators during routine practice inspections.
