Board of Registration of Funeral Directors and Embalmers

The Board of Registration of Funeral Directors and Embalmers issues licenses to qualified Embalmers and Funeral Directors based on the licensing requirements set forth in RSA 325.

The Board regulates the minimum standards for professional conduct and continued competency and takes disciplinary action against licensees who fail to meet these standards. The Board inspects funeral homes and chapels based on the inspection requirements set forth within RSA 325 and issues certificates of inspection to all funeral homes and chapels meeting these requirements.

Effective July 1, 2006, the Board was designated to be responsible for the administration and enforcement of RSA 325-A relative to the cremation of human remains. Upon inspection, the Board issues a certificate of inspection to crematory authorities that satisfy the requirements under this chapter.

Public Hearing

On March 14, 2018, the Board of Registration of Funeral Directors and Embalmers (“Board”) voted to adopt as an initial proposal various sections of Frl 100-200 pdf file, relative to definitions, records of board actions, nonadjudicative investigations & hearings, waivers of substantive rules, and explanations after adoption, and Frl 304, 308, 500, and 700 pdf file, relative to unlicensed personnel, eye procurement, ethical and professional standards, and preparation room requirements and equipment. The Board will be holding a public hearing on this initial proposal on May 9, 2018 at 3:45 p.m. at the Office of Professional Licensure & Certification, 121 S. Fruit Street, Concord, NH 03301. Interested persons may submit comments on this proposal orally at the hearing. The Board will also accept written testimony on these proposed rules until May 21, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. Written testimony may be submitted c/o Attorney Robert J.
