If you have an approved Candidate for Licensure Agreement on file with the Board complete the Request to sit for ASWB Clinical Exam form pdf file and return it to the Board office.

Go to nbcc.org and register for the NCMHC exam. Beginning in June 2008 the exam will be administered via computer at various testing sites throughout the United States.

You may take the exam when the Board approves your Request to sit for the Marriage and Family exam. The Board will send you an email with instructions on how to register for the National Marital and Family Therapy Examination. For information regarding exam dates, testing centers, score transfer forms and AMFTRB handbook, visit the Association of Marital and Family Therapy Regulatory Boards website.

In order to sit for the written Pastoral Psychotherapist Examination, you need to submit a full application for pastoral psychotherapist licensure pdf file for the Board to review. Once the Board approves your application you will be scheduled for the exam.

No. The Board does not have jurisdiction over the supervision of hours in another state.

No. New Hampshire does not have reciprocity with any other states.

No. However, when you submit your application materials, you will still need to complete the Summary of Supervised Clinical Experience Grid Sheet, which should match the hours verified on the Supervisor’s Confirmation of Clinical Experience form by present and/or past supervisors.

You need 40 CEU's with 6 in ethics during your two- year license period. Refer to Administrative Rule Mhp 402 for complete details.

You may take 20 CEU's out of the required 40 as home study.

back to topWhat kind of continuing education programs are accepted?

The Board does not approve specific continuing education programs. The Board accepts CEU's that are approved by national organizations. All licensees may obtain credits from any of the national organizations listed in Mhp 402.02(b). You may attend workshops/seminars etc. that are approved by the national organization that might not be the national organization for your specific profession. For example, if you are a licensed clinical mental health counselor, you may attend and get credit for workshops/seminars sponsored by NASW, AAMFT or any of the others listed in the rule. The same applies to the other professions licensed with the Board. For a complete list of these organizations please see Board rule Mhp 402.02(b).

You need to complete the Report of Alleged Misconduct Formback to top pdf file. Please be sure to complete all sections of the form or it will be returned to you. You may attach a typed word document to the Details of Alleged Misconduct section of the form.

You will need to complete a Change of Address form pdf file and mail it or fax it to the Board office.

back to topHow do I obtain mailing lists?

The Board of Mental Health Practice has the following lists available for purchase. The lists are emailed in text format and can be converted into Excel.

  1. Pastoral Psychotherapists;
  2. Independent clinical social workers;
  3. Clinical mental health counselors; and
  4. Marriage and family therapists.

Each list provides the licensee's name, address, license number, issue date and expiration date. There is a charge of $25.00 per list. If you wish to obtain a list/s please send a written request stating which list/s you want, an email address to send the list/s and a check made payable to Treasurer, State of NH. Mail your request to:

No, however, your education program has to meet the requirements of NH Administrative Rules Mhp 305.01(b) and Mhp 305.02.
