Board News

FBI Background Check Now Required

Applicants for Naturopathic doctor licensure are now required to have an FBI background check done as part of the licensure process. Applicants must submit a criminal history record information authorization form and a set of fingerprints, taken by a qualified individual, to obtain licensure through the board.

NH RSA §328-E:9-a requires the Naturopathic Board of Examiners to conduct state and federal fingerprint-based background checks of every applicant for initial licensure to practice Naturopathic medicine as defined in 328-E:2. The New Hampshire Criminal Justice information Law Unit-approved New Hampshire state statute list has been updated to reflect this amended authority. When you begin submitting fingerprints under this new authority, please ensure that the correct citation is clearly in the “Reason Fingerprinted” block of the applicant fingerprint card as “NH RSA 317-A:8-a” or “NH RSA 328-E:9-a.”

These background checks will only be accepted if they are run through this office. If you have them run yourself they will not be accepted.
